Website on Nathiagali Launched
ABBOTTABAD: A amateur local web developer has launched a website about famous tourist site, Nathiagali. The site “www.Nathiagali.com” contains information about Galles in Galliyat area and has web links about hotels and restaurants media organisations such as PTV, BBC, CNN, ABC News, Dawn, The News, The Statesman The Frontier Post, The Nation, Jang, Khaleej Times and Gulf News.
Developer of Nathiagali.com Syed Azhar Hussain Shah is holder of Master’s degree in Political Science and Pakistan Studies and has a vast knowledge about information technology. He also boasts of distinction as first Internet User in Hazara Division.
He told The News that it was his earnest desire to help the government exploit tourism potential in Pakistan especially in northern parts of the country. He said that Nathiagali.com has been launched properly and web surfers could visit it to obtain valuable information about Nathiagali and surrounding areas. This site is being upgraded to include more information for potential users. He further said that Nathiagali.com at the moment, includes pictures of secenic Gallyat valleys and wildlife along with a link about Galliyat development Authority (GDA). The site also has links to messengers (Yahoo and MSN) and famous search engines Altavista, Yahoo, Googles and Microsoft Network. This site further includes weather information and news update.
“All famous hotels and tourist site in the area are included in the portal with valuable information.”
He maintained that he developed this site on his own without any help from public or private sector but looks forward to government’s encouragement. He said that United Nations has declared year 2002 as ” International Year of Mountains” and it was need of the hour to introduce mountainous regions of Pakistan to the rest of the world through web.
In order to promote eco-tourism, Azhar Shah plans to include articals about environment and deforestation in the area to create awareness among the people regarding environment. He also plan to develop similar websites about the Northern Areas.
He has invited frequent visitors of Nathiagali to become part of his project by donating valuable information about this picturesque town on Pakistan that has rich history.
